Maceo Plex

Eric Estornel has plenty of aliases for his diverse interests in electronic music, but while he squeezes the acid out of tracks as Maetrik and makes clinical electro as Mariel Ito, it’s with the dark, spacey electro house of Maceo Plex that he’s become a selector with a global reputation.

After last year’s Main Stage set of broodingly seductive big-room tunes, the Ellum label chief will be back with another blend of bleeps and heavy beats plucked from the future. As a DJ, Maceo has a style that’s rooted in the techy sounds of labels like Cocoon and Crosstown Rebels where he’s released tracks and found a natural home. And yet, the deeper the set goes, the more able he is to move through the gears and sneakily throw a net of driving techno and swirling atmospheres over the dancefloor.
